IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Sri Lanka and Japan Deepen Technical Internship Collaboration at OTIT Meeting

On 30 July 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, and Mr. Koshala Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), held a productive meeting with Mr. Otani Kodai, President of the Organization for Technical Intern Training (OTIT), during the SLBFE’s recent visit to Japan.

The meeting focused on implementing the new MOC on the System for Training and Employment signed on 23 July 2026 and strengthening bilateral cooperation on Sri Lankan human resource development. Both sides also discussed OTIT’s role in ensuring proper working and living conditions for Sri Lankan workers in Japan.

The meeting was also attended by officials from the Embassy of Sri Lanka and the SLBFE.
