IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Ambassador and SLBFE Chairman Meet Japan’s Assistant Minister for International Labour Affairs

On 28 July 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, and Mr. Koshala Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), held a productive meeting with Mr. OKUMURA Hideki, Assistant Minister for International Labour Affairs, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), during the SLBFE delegation’s visit to Japan. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the smooth implementation of the “Memorandum of Cooperation between Japan and Sri Lanka on the System for Training and Employment” signed on 23 July 2026, as well as on strengthening cooperation in the development and acceptance of Sri Lankan human resources in Japan. The meeting was also attended by officials from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan and the SLBFE.
