IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Ambassador Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe met with Nikkei Inc. Executive Producer Rinichiro Nagasawa to explore opportunities to strengthen Sri Lanka–Japan economic ties.

H.E.Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka, recently met with Mr. Rinichiro Nagasawa, Executive Producer, Global Events of Nikkei Inc. to discuss opportunities for strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan economic and commercial engagement through high-level international platforms.

The meeting focused on Sri Lanka’s potential representation at Nikkei’s prestigious Future of Asia Forum, one of Asia’s leading platforms bringing together political leaders, business executives, policymakers and thought leaders to discuss key regional and global economic issues.

The Ambassador highlighted the importance of such platforms in enhancing Sri Lanka’s international economic profile, promoting its investment and trade potential, and strengthening engagement with leading Japanese and Asian business communities. Discussions also explored how Sri Lanka’s representation at the Forum could be effectively arranged to maximize its economic and commercial impact.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka looks forward to further engagement with Nikkei Inc. in promoting Sri Lanka as a competitive destination for trade, investment and business partnerships in the Asian region. The meeting was also attended by the First Secretary (commercial) of the Embassy.
