IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, attended the Hiroshima World Peace event near the Atomic Bomb Dome, held to mark the atomic bomb anniversary. As Chief Guest, the Ambassador lit the first kagari-bi (peace fire)—symbolising remembrance, hope, and a prayer for peace—and affirmed that the present Government of Sri Lanka always supports peace and humanity.
