IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Sri Lankan Delegation Holds Discussions with JOGMEC Leadership

The Sri Lankan delegation, led by Hon. Sunil Handunnetthi, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, and H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, held discussions with Mr. Ichiro Takahara, Chairman and the senior management of the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) on 15 October 2026 in Tokyo.

Both sides explored opportunities for technical cooperation, technology transfer and engagement with Japanese companies to promote investment and develop value-added mineral industries in Sri Lanka.
