IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Hon. Minister Holds Discussions with Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry

Hon. Sunil Handunnetthi, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, accompanied by H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, held discussions with Hon. TAKAGI Kei, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, at METI on 15 October 2026.

The discussions focused on strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan economic and industrial cooperation, improving Sri Lanka’s business and investment climate, and advancing the Conceptual Roadmap on “Building an Export-Oriented Industrial Corridor.”
