IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka Addresses the 8th Hydrogen Ministerial Meeting in Japan

On 10 September 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador, addressed the 8th Hydrogen Ministerial Meeting at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, co-hosted by Japan's METI and NEDO. The Ambassador emphasized that Sri Lanka is ready to develop the hydrogen sector with international support, including from the Japanese government and investors with advanced technologies, and stressed that the sector's future must be inclusive and not leave developing countries behind. Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ryosei Akazawa, chaired the roundtable discussion.
