IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka Meets Governor of Hokkaido to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation.

On 3 September 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Naomichi Suzuki, Governor of Hokkaido. Discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment ties, expanding employment opportunities in Sapporo for skilled Sri Lankan workers, and preparations for next year's 75th anniversary of Sri Lanka–Japan diplomatic relations. Mr. Ken Yamashita, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Otaru City, Hokkaido, also participated.
