IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

On 3 September 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, met with Mr. Takahiro Nakata, Vice President of the Sapporo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and members at the Chamber's office. Mr. Ken Yamashita, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Otaru City, Hokkaido, also participated. Discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment ties, exploring employment opportunities in Sapporo for skilled Sri Lankan professionals, and inviting Chamber members to participate in the Sri Lanka Expo from 14–17 January.
