IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan Cooperation in Agriculture, Fisheries and Skilled Human Resources

On 28 July 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, and Mr. Koshala Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), held a productive meeting with Mr. SUGINAKA Atsushi, Director-General of the Export and International Affairs Bureau, MAFF, during the delegation's official visit to Japan. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, particularly expanding opportunities for skilled Sri Lankan human resources. The meeting was also attended by senior officials from the Embassy and the SLBFE.
