IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

On 28 July 2026, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan and SLBFE Chairman met with NAGOMi Chairman Mr. Tsutomu Takebe to discuss strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan cooperation on employment and human resources.

On 28 July 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan and Mr. Koshala Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) held a productive meeting with Mr. Tsutomu Takebe, Chairman of NAGOMi (National Association for Global & Open Minded Communities) during the recently concluded visit to Japan by SLBFE.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on promoting the development and protection of foreign human resources and building an inclusive, multicultural society. The participants also discussed strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan cooperation in human resource development and employment.

The meeting was also attended by the other officials from the Embassy and the SLBFE.
