IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Japan, attended a peace musical concert in Hiroshima using the musical instruments damaged during the atomic bombing. As the Chief Guest, he highlighted Sri Lanka’s contribution to the 1951 San Francisco Peace Conference and emphasized the strong diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Japan. The event featured performances by violinists Kanon Yasuzuka and Ai Yoshida, as well as pianist Momoka Hasegawa.
