On 5 August 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Japan, attended a peace musical concert in Hiroshima using the musical instruments damaged during the atomic bombing. As the Chief Guest, he highlighted Sri Lanka’s contribution to the 1951 San Francisco Peace Conference and emphasized the strong diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Japan. The event featured performances by violinists Kanon Yasuzuka and Ai Yoshida, as well as pianist Momoka Hasegawa.
