On 17 July 2026, Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, met with Hon. UEDA Kiyoshi, Member of the House of Councillors (Democratic Party for the People) and Former Governor of Saitama Prefecture, at the Office Building of the House of Councillors. Discussions focused on further strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan relations, promoting foreign direct investment in Sri Lanka, and expanding employment opportunities for skilled Sri Lankan professionals.
IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE
With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.
Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.
