Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, visited Noya Elementary School in Oita Prefecture on May 22, 2026, delivering a lecture on Sri Lanka and engaging with students on Sri Lankan culture, Buddhism, national heritage, and Sri Lanka–Japan relations, while also interacting with Sri Lankan workers in the area and discussing their welfare.
IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE
With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.
Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.
