IMPORTANT TRAVEL NOTICE

With effect from 26 July 2026, all eligible travelers visiting Sri Lanka for tourism must obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival.

Nationals of the 40 eligible countries, including Japan may obtain a free 30-day tourist ETA, but prior online approval is mandatory.

On 5 August 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, attended the Hiroshima World Peace event near the Atomic Bomb Dome, held to mark the atomic bomb anniversary.

On 5 August 2026, H.E. Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Japan, attended a peace musical concert in Hiroshima using the musical instruments damaged during the atomic bombing.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Sri Lanka Human Resources Promotion Programme – Japan 2026, held across Tokyo, Saitama, Nagoya, Osaka, and Chiba.

The first session of the Sri Lanka – Japan Human Resources Promotion Program 2026, jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, was successfully held in Tokyo on 27 July 2026.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan extends its deepest respect and gratitude to the late Mr. Nobuhide Yoshida, who devoted many years of his life to strengthening the friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan and made invaluable contributions to Sri Lanka.
